Paico Ind. has been producing windows and fixtures for many years, the client requested a new image for the firm’s headquarters and showroom in order to capture the attention of potential clients driving by.

The showroom in located in an industrial warehouse and the renovation project interacts with and underlines the peculiar characteristics of the old building.

The interior is spacious and flexible and the exterior area offers the opportunity to sit, relax and look inside the showroom through the glazed façade. The office space is located on a higher level, in a partially cantilevered telescope like volume, which overlooks both the indoor and the outdoor space.

People driving on the main street will be attracted by the volumes and the light playing on the new showroom façade.

The project was aimed at conveying a new updated image to the brand.

The new architectural façade system was designed keeping in mind the client’s intention to give a glamorous touch to the facility. The pre existing industrial warehouse was partially transformed in the interior and completely remodeled in the exterior: the wire mesh diaphragm applied to the façade guarantees sun shading and privacy where needed. Thanks to new transparencies and light effects added to the overall appearance of the building the entrance has acquired a uniform and captivating look.

Characterized by its twofold nature, the project integrates a single family house with a dental clinic.

Located within the very edge of the city, the building fabric completely absorbs the twofold system nature which was the request of the client himself: he intended to fuse the private living are with the working area, while still guaranteeing some independence to these two functions. This double character conferred a stimulating combination: a conceptual guideline that became the driving force of the project and filtered all its aspects. This “twofold nature” is underlined by the double exposure of the house; a perfect tension generated by a façade exposed to the north, with a view over the breath taking landscape, and the opposite façade exposed to the south, overlooking the main street that denotes the main access to Fermo’s city centre. The latter aspect linked with the different exposures influenced the choice of two different façade systems: a vertical louvered surface to the south, protecting the house from the main street and from direct solar radiation in summer, and the metal telescope like structure towards the north, in order to capture the best possible view and frame it like a painting.

The twofold nature, the different materials and shading devices, the underlining of two separate entrances and of two different levels of privacy mirror the surrounding landscape and, just like a reflective surface, the house captures the best aspects of the surroundings.

Sezione Trasversale NO-SE – Situazione Estiva ed Invernale.

1. Alberature sempreverdi raffrescano l’aria e creano ombreggiamento nel periodo estivo. Durante l’inverno riparano dai venti freddi provenienti da nord e nord-est.
2. Per mezzo del processo evaporativo la Vegetazione contribuisce a raffrescare l’aria e a filtrare la luce.
3. Sistema di raccolta e riciclo delle acque meteoriche. L’acqua viene raccolta in una cisterna, filtrata e riutilizzata per l’irrigazione e per gli scarichi domestici.
4. Tetto ventilato composto da pannelli sandwich grecati per garantire la ventilazione del solaio di copertura e dei moduli fotovoltaici integrati.
5. Pannelli fotovoltaici CIS a film sottile su falda inclinata di 25°. Potenza istallata 7Kwp.
6. Rivestimento per mezzo di membrana riflettente che genera l’aumento dell’albedo riducendo la radiazione solare assorbita dalla copertura.
7. L’inclinazione dei raggi solari estivi viene intercettata dalle lamelle frangisole orizzontali e dagli aggetti che permettono di schermare la facciata esposta a sud dal sole nei mesi caldi senza impedire la vista verso l’esterno. Infissi a taglio termico con vetri selettivi riducono i guadagni termici.
8. Immissione di aria fresca negli ambienti per differenza di pressione. Generazione di ventilazione incrociata grazie alla presenza di finestre poste su fronti opposti.
9. Pannelli radianti a pavimento nella residenza al secondo piano.
10. Fancoil per la regolazione indipendente di ogni sala nello studio al piano terra.
11. impianto Geotermico con captazione verticale e Pompa di Calore con scambiatore per riscaldamento/raffrescamento e produzione di acqua calda sanitaria.
12. Permeabilità del suolo per garantire l’alimentazione delle falde acquifere sottostanti.
13. Immissione di aria fresca nell’intercapedine del piano interrato per garantire ottimali condizioni igrometriche.
14. Espulsione di aria calda viziata.
15. Alberi spoglianti. Durante il periodo estivo raffrescano l’aria e creano ombreggiamento. Durante il periodo invernale permettono alla luce del sole di filtrare attraverso i rami e al vento caldo proveniente da sud-ovest di accedere.
16. Estate: essendo l’aria proveniente dall’esterno più fredda dei corpi che incontra (calore corporeo degli utenti e corpi illuminanti) si riscalda e sale verso l’alto, dove viene poi espulsa dalle finestre. Inverno: l’aria degli ambienti confinati viene riscaldata anche dal calore corporeo degli utenti e dai corpi illuminanti.
17. L’inclinazione dei raggi solari invernali, più bassa, consente l’illuminazione naturale degli ambienti e garantisce il guadagno termico attivo per irraggiamento.
18. La parete esposta a Nord è quasi completamente opaca per limitare le dispersioni termiche ed è ventilata per evitare la formazione di condensa interstiziale.
19. Ambienti freschi caratterizzati da basse temperature durante l’estate.
20. Il lucernaio in copertura permette l’illuminazione diffusa degli ambienti.

The project consists in the redistribution of one room divided into two areas: the closet and the bedroom.

The custom made folded surface behind the bed underlines the irregularity of the existing wall perimeter, favoring the introduction of light effects, but it also serves as a container and a shelf.

In the Ambassador’s House the cabinet  acts as a filter between the living room and the kitchen and study. It becomes the core around which the whole living area revolves.

The cabinet as a narration of places visited and experiences made throughout a lifetime serving as a Diplomat; but also simply a container for everyday objects.

Although the cabinet acts as a separation between the kitchen and the living room, it is not completely opaque and it allows the permeation of natural and artificial light. The objects displayed in the cabinet become the real attraction of the living room as they are placed inside the niches that reveal stories and poems form the client’s past experiences.

The material used is CORIAN. It has the capacity to confer different shades that derive from the same color, with translucent and opaque accents.

The private client requested a modern kitchen with technological appliances, stainless steel accents and an overall dark look. The stainless steel+satin finished steel island with snack table in ebony wood and a small round shaped sink occupies a central position. Right next to it there is a two level stainless steel custom made breakfast table. The cabinet material is solid wood dark oak (grey-black) with no exposed handles. Between the upper and lower cabinets there is a custom made back-lit glass. The kitchen is divided into two main areas: the kitchen area and the dining area. The suspended ceiling is dark in color, when it comes near the cabinets it is interrupted in order to create light blades that improve the visibility on the stainless steel countertops and the working areas.

A low environmental impact playground, subtly integrated with the surrounding landscape, suitable for all age groups: here children can play safely while their parents watch over them, sitting under the shadow of a tree and overlooking the emerald sea.

The project was based on the following objectives: to create a playground with a shape that would follow harmonically the shape of the Maddalena Island and the natural orography of the terrain; to diversify the activities of the children according to their age group (0-5 and 5-11) offering them three different levels of experience – visual, psychic and cognitive; to guarantee complete accessibility of the playground by people with special needs; to use natural and recyclable materials (local stones, sand, wood and autochthon plants) and renewable resources to provide electric power and to operate the water pups guaranteeing a very low environmental impact.

The renovation works for the building in Vicolo della Torretta, set in the area of Campo Marzio in Rome, include the rearrangement of the interiors in order to adapt the building to its new function: a Hotel. The program of the three story building includes a reception and sixteen furnished bedrooms that were designed taking into account the need for functionality and fluidity in order to offer to the client flexible and cozy rooms. The soft and sinuous shape of the interior surfaces is made possible by the use of flexible materials and is connected to the minimal space of the existing walls. The reception, like all the bedrooms, is the result of a functional and flexible scheme that optimizes any possible spatial solution.
